Project 52 #6: Visit Grandma Berta with surprises

This week's project is one we've had in the hopper since the beginning.  But for one reason or another it kept getting pushed back: hair appointments for Berta, sickness either for us or her, you name it!  Grandma Berta is Jodie's  adopted Grandmother.  She was her grandmother's best friend before she passed away.  Grandma Berta lives in an assisted living facility and we went to visit on Friday.  We made little cards with the word "Joy" on the front.  The kids colored the cards and then we wrote a scripture verse on the back: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy..." Romans 15:13

We distributed these little cards along with some chocolates to Berta's neighbors and friends.  Even some of the servers in the cafeteria!  The kids had a great time being the Easter Bunny and putting surprise candies on the resident's doorsteps.

While we were there the kids wanted to sing some songs for Berta.  Ahren sang a solo!  He stood up so straight and tall right in front of Grandma Berta so she could hear him and sang his heart out.  I was so shocked, I just sat and listened instead of grabbing my camera.  His sweet little voice was pure pleasure to my ears!  It was a blessing to me.  Lydia and Parker sang "The Star-Spangled Banner"  the song they learned in preschool this year. Ahren sang a song her learned in his school.

It was a pleasure meeting Grandma Berta and bringing smiles to her and her friends and neighbors.
