Last Saturday we went to our first Awana Games. Ahren and Lydia competed in the Sparks-A-Rama games against 4 other clubs. Their first athletic competition :)
In case you're wondering what Awana is, here is the definition: Awana clubs are weekly meetings for boys and girls pre-school through high school. They are carefully organized to provide maximum interest and activity for everyone. The Sparks-a-Rama event is for grades K-2. In these clubs each meeting is divided into 3 parts: Game time, Handbook time and Large Group time. Young people learn the reality of God, the truth of the Bible and respect for our contry freedoms. Awana stands for Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed. There are 87 countries now using Awana and 1.3 million youth around the world attending each week.
My kids LOVE it! I've seen so much growth in them the past year and a hunger and love for learning scripture that I don't think I could have fostered on my own as their mother. Here are some pics of the event:
