Lydia turns 5

We celebrated Lydia's 5th birthday yesterday with family. Pizza, cake, chips, presents and family. Add in a little snow and you have a perfect March birthday!!

Lydia in her element before the party. Snuggled in a blanket after a bath watching cartoons.

Crazy March snow that accumulated to 4" when all said and done.

Lydia's chocolate butterfly cake.

New ballerina jammies. Does anyone else think those are too cute to wear to bed??

Acting like a silly ballerina.

Little artist using her easel made by daddy.

When asked what she painted, she said "A church with a parking lot (the pink space) and a fence to keep the sheep out." I see it, don't you?

This was Lydia on her actual bday (the 24th). Our friends the Allen's brought her donuts and woke her from bed at 8am. What a fun surprise!

On Thursday we went to the Art Museum. It was cold!

This is not a posed shot. They were actually sitting like that looking at paintings.

Contemplating her complex five-year old life :)

When Lydia was born at 38 weeks her life was complex. She had immature lungs and had to be put on a ventilator at 3 days old. The emotions I felt those long 10 days are something I never want to feel again. There is nothing like a sick child to bring you to your knees in prayer before the Creator.

Obviously Lydia made a full recovery for which we are forever grateful. We can't imagine life without her! She is a joy. All girl and loves to eat sweets, read, the color pink and watch TV. She has expressed an interest in painting and all kinds of art. She loves her bunnies that go almost everywhere with us. She loves her sisters and brother and playing pretend. She is slow in everything she does but I like to think she's just enjoying life instead of trying to make me mad :) I'm excited to see what the next 5 years bring.
