You know that hour or so after dinner when your husband isn't home yet and you've already had a long day, can barely stand to look at CandyLand or hear Dora sing another song? What do you do? We could go outside for a walk, but we're steering clear of pollen as much as we can and the kids have already had outside time today, plus Ahren just had a breathing treatment.
My kids like to race. We have a circle in our house and they like to invent all kinds of races. Alligator, bunny hops, bear crawl, high knees, snake, giraffe, crab crawl, run while you're brushing your teeth, skip, run backwards, do side steps, gallop, flap your arms like a bird, growl like a lion. This has to be one of my favorite things to watch. The race always goes the same. Ahren leads the way, Lydia follows and Annie struggles to keeep up with both of them. Tonight's races have been going on a particularly long time. They are enjoying being creative and getting rid of some excess energy at the same time. But now the animal races have downgraded into animal wrestling and someone is about to get hurt. Annie is smart enough not to wrestle at the moment, but she's trying to type simultaneously with me using her toes. Gotta go!
Daniel and Addie love to race after dinner, too! I'll have to suggest the animal races. Addie would really get into that!
