Biblical Virtue #10

Biblical Self-Esteem

"Help my children develop a strong self-esteem that is rooted in the realization that they are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:10)

I'm beginning to think about this more and more as my kids get older.  I have 3 girls.  What are they seeing in me about how I think about myself?  I try not to compare myself to other women, especially the 'fake' ones that society parades in front of us in magazines and billboards.  But how often do they catch me checking myself in the mirror to see how big my 'post-baby pooch' is these days?  Lord knows I'm not overly concerned about makeup and accessorizing, but when I ask Lydia if she thinks her clothes match for the day, what is she really hearing?

Lord, help ME to develop a strong self-esteem that is rooted in the realization that I am YOUR workmanship, created in your image.  Amen.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:10
