Pignic '11

July 4th has become a favorite holiday for us as a family.  This year we hosted 'Pignic '11' and it was a blast!  A collision of worlds: school, neighbors, church, friends and family.  Not everyone knew everyone else, but we love having so many facets of our life together at one event.  The only other time that really happens is your wedding and your funeral!  This year, thanks to Pinterest I did some crafting to prepare.
Tin can wind socks.  Not weather proof-but cute nonetheless!
Spray painted stars on the driveway and grass.  I love these!

Tim made a Cornhole game for the occasion.

"Sparklers" made from vellum paper and glitter glue.

Marshmallow pops (aka sugar on a stick)

I dyed rice for the first time.  Super easy...and pretty!
Tim's truck hosted the drink station.  Fitz's Root Beer!
Bottles with name tags for your straw.
And of course, there was the pig.  We didn't do a whole hog this year, for more than one reason, but it was delicious nonetheless.  One addition this year was grilled corn on the cob.  Oh so yummy!
My parents helping Tim put the corn on...because I was busy taking pictures!
And the best part of the evening was sharing it with our favorite people!
Baby Ethan getting a sip of Root Beer from his daddy.
Maw Maw getting some love from Maria!
Little Clark sacked out on Paw Paw's lap.
There was quite a baseball game going on in the front yard.  Another year and those kids will be hitting the ball in the street!
My twin brother Shawn, with his youngest, Alyse.

Friends!
The Southard Family

Mama's Girl
All of Mama's Girls!
When did my baby get so big??
I didn't get pictures of everyone who came, not even close.  But if the 5 of you who read this also came to 'Pignic '11' - thank you!

And a special thank you to my MIL, Lou Ann and FIL, Mark for taking care of the kids and loving them so well while we prepared for the party!

  2. it was a wonderful evening- thanks so much for including us! our girls had a great time, and matt & i loved chatting with new & familiar faces. and your party set up was so cute, too! (i am glad you don't have pictures of me... i've decided to embrace my sweaty, frizzy haired no-makeup look for the summer, but i don't necessarily want to share it with the blogosphere!)
