Last Friday we got to take Ahren and Lydia to a Cardinals game, thanks to my friend Kristi and her husband Robert. They gave us GREAT seats! Ahren and Lydia have each been to one game with Tim. That was his Christmas present two years agao. Ahren remembers going a little, but Lydia didn't really remember since she had just turned two. I didn't give the kids too much advance notice because they would have driven me crazy wanting to know how many days there were until Friday. But nonetheless, their excitement was contagious. We bought snacks and dinner and Gatorade and carried them into the stadium. For some reason, my kids like Gatorade better than almost anything in the world!
We got there early enough to watch the Brewers do a little batting practice. Ahren was given a ball from Trevor Hoffman (all time saves leader in baseball) who was shagging balls in the outfield. He was very excited! We walked around the stadium for a while and just took in the scene around us...and drank Gatorade :)
By the time they sang The Star Spangled Banner, Ahren was pale, cold and clammy and laying down on Tim. He had a headache. I could tell right away this was going to be a bad migraine. The headaches hit him so suddenly sometimes, actually, most of the time! When his skin gets cold and clammy, you know he's going to throw up. He tried to be big and brave saying he was okay, but by the bottom of the second inning, he said he needed to go home. We walked right outside the stadium and while I was waiting with the kids and Tim was getting the car, he threw up. Poor soul...my heart just aches for him everytime he has to go through that. He fell sound asleep on the short ride home and went straight to bed.
Here are some pictures before Ahren got sick...
And I couldn't resist taking a picture of him after he got sick. He really feels better after he yaks, he's still pretty pale though.
So, we didn't get to see the Cards beat the Brewers 8-0, but we will remember the night we went to the baseball game.
